If I am seeing it correctly, the gap should be filled with the new rocker. The rocker over laps to the floor so you can trim to fit.

Hey robscout2, if your talking about the coffee can looking thing in the engine compartment, most people bypass it with no problems. Now the is one in the rear drivers side fender that some bypass as...
You can get a condenser at any auto parts store, they are cheap. I would change that first, a new coil does not cost much either. You can preform an ohm test on the coil to see if there is continuity...
Check distributor cap, rotor and points.

Welcome to the insanity:)
Common rust areas:
Floor pans, like directly under the e-brake (both sides)
Rear corners of the cargo area (lift mat if it has one)
Rocker panels, mine looked decent but...
I assume we are talking about a Scout II. The "shim" and spring should slide in from the outside, just lift or pry the caliper upward and start the shim and spring in at the same time. You may have...
Here is a little tip I used on my Scout, take a piece of tailpipe about 2" or 2 1/2" long, cut it with a hacksaw lengthwise on one side. Fold or roll it together until it fits inside the exhaust...
Cdriver; I read your other post about the carb, If it ran before the carb swap I would say you still have a carb problem. With it backfiring, does it smell gassy? It wasn't mentioned in the other...
The only time I have seen valve covers blow was when the carb overflowed so much it got fuel in the oil pan. That was on a 65 IH pickup that got the nick name Boomer because it did it 3 times the...
Might need to know what carb you have, I know my Edelbrok is different. Just saying all carbs are not the same.

Yeah!! I won!! What's my prize!!:):)
Just kidding, glad you found the problem.

Try this, disconnect the feed (tank side) at the fuel pump, take an air hose and rag to the filler tube. Start putting air in the tank it does not take much, DO IT SLOWLY! The air pressure should...
Might help if we knew where you are located
That's what I have done,,,,but it has been said by disconnecting the other hoses that go up into that driver's side fender it can cause filling issues. There is some vapor/evaporation unit in that...
Are you sure the line from the tank to your hard line is not getting pinched upon re-installing of the tank. It happened on my 75, pinched between the body and the tank. Only mine just flat ran out...
My 74 leaked just as bad and it ended up being the torque convertor, the tq had a crack in the sealing surface. Leaked liked crazy!!
Ron
Thumbs up!!!:):)
Quiz question: What does SUA stand for. LOL
Outside looks nice!!! How about a description of the what we can't see. What's under ther hood? What's in the axles? Does it even run?
I can tell you think and it probably is a REALLY nice truck,...
The only thing I would add to Allen's post would be to turn the crank by hand slowly because an IH V8 only delivers oil to one head at a time. The crank has to turn to align the oil passages.
Ron
Get your self a borgenson kit it has both the upper and one to replace the rag joint a much better setup than the rag joint. I would buyt one from IHON but you can google it, you can get them about...
I like the idea of a straight steer, I put one on my 75 but I did not notice any difference. I think it can give you more strength to prevent flex but it did not improve my steering. IMHO.
I...
Welcome Roughcountry, I would say the steering box is the last to go. Rag Joint, tierods and ball joints are the biggest culprits. Alignment can make a big difference also. You need to get under the...
I am kind of partial to this: But to each his own :-)
