Scout 800 Brake problem

I have a 1971 Scout 800 and I have to pump up the brakes to get them to work, and then they bleed to the floor. I havent pulled anything apart to see if anything is leaking yet. anyone have any idea what this might be?

For starters look under the scout at the inside of the wheels to see if the wheel cylinders are leaking, everything should be dry there. What it really sounds like though is your master cylinder is leaking fluid back into the reservoir. You might need a new one or a rebuild kit.
