SD33 linkage

I have a cj10a that used the sd33 and it looks like the link to the injector pump works from an electric / vac. set up along with a vac. opperated butterfly at the intake, and seems to be very slow to respond. can this be removed and use a manual linkage from the pedal? Its like telling 5 seperate people you want to speed up, slow to respond

IIRC, the CJ10A was used to tow aircraft? That would make me believe that the the throttle arrangement you discribe was to prevent sudden WOT.
By all means junk that stuff and hook the throttle directly to the IP.
