I can't seem to locate the gvw on my 1979 s1854. I have the vin but it ain't helping much. Anyone know where I can get this info? It is not on the door(s). I just need to know if I need a CDL to be legal.

Mine had a GVWR of 25K, but I registered it as having less. That's not always legal in every state, but I got away with it in AZ. The reason I did it is because I knew I would never approach full load (it was an 1853 bus, not a truck), and AZ charges by weight for the registration. Saved me about 80 bucks a year.

You can get the information by ordering the line set ticket. Mine was on the VIN plate, though.

Is the VIN plate the one on the door jamb that tells the year and model info? All mine has is the year--1979, the model--1854 and the
VIN--AA185JHA30014

Isn't there another one on the firewall? I can't remember where the big one was on those. There should be a metal plate with the information.

Otherwise, you can get the VIN plate from the Wisconsin Historical Society.
