I'm looking for a pitman arm for a 1970 800 6-cyl. Have you got something that will work??

stu simpson

I have a good pittman $25 plus shipping. Email me your address and if it is a business or a residence. Shipping will probably be $8.

Do you need the nut too or just the arm?

Are the end caps rusted or dented and how much for the pair? Also looking for a good windsheild no chips or scratches? Let me know.

I have not removed the bumper to check on the lower part of the end caps. There are a couple of bubbles down there, I just need to make sure they don't have any bondo covering up rust or a hole/cave-in. There is a very heavy enamel paint over everything so I am going to have to look close. They are very straight and *look* unhit. I would probably cut them off in the 1/4 panel if anyone needed them.

From what I have seen there are no chips or scratches in the windshield.

Hi Stu,

I am a newbie, so the board won't let me email or PM you. I am interested in the driver side (left side) door for Scout 800. Also a pushrod for a 304 if you have, male at bottom, female at top. If your 304 engine is disassembled, I have in hole in mine, wondering if you could help me figure out if it is supposed to be there. I posted a picture in the Scout Tech forum, titled "Hole in Block". Hole is at back of engine under tappet cover.

Appreciate your help!

I have plenty of pushrods but you need to let me know if you have the 'boat' or 'welded' style of rockers.

As far as the hole in the block, if it looks like someone took an 8# maul and knocked a piece out that is normal. The foundry knocked out a hole to aid in oil drainback. I know it looks bad. I have seen more 345s done that way but I have seen a few 304s with the hole too.

I am OK in selling just the driver's side as I have a good 800B driver's door too.

Where in New England are you?

Hey Stu,

Im not trying to "crap" on this thread. I just havent gotten a package, a response to the numerous emails or PMs I have sent you, or to the message I have sent you through paypal. Respond to one of those and give me a tracking number. Thanks,

AJ

Specific: Hard to take any claim that I have not been responsive to emails or calls, I can understand with PMs because my box frequently gets filled and I have to bulk download or manually delete dozens or hundreds to get back into operation. I sometimes get dozens in a day. Also, I believe that I sent you my phone number, but if I hadn't, it is plastered all over JI, BP, OldIHC etc etc. Yes I did get your "'message' through Paypal" yesterday which in fact was a claim not a message, one that sent my account into negative for which I had to fill it back from another account up to make up the difference. I don't respond well to belligerent or threatening communications, or coming onto another board to cause collateral damage from a transaction that took place elsewhere. That frankly seems to be the case from your tone and language, post Paypal claim. Seemed fishy to me that the claim came 5 days after 2nd shipment, just about the ship time from Md to NM. I would have just refunded your $ on the spot if your claim hadn't sucked the account negative, and at this point I am just going to do that once I get Paypal built back up but I will be in no hurry. I'll go ahead and take the hit on the parts and on the shipping. As far as I am concerned thats going to be the end of it.

General consumption: Out of 400+ transactions that I have done in the past couple of years, mostly for $5 to $20 parts, the vast majority have been fun and amicable. I am not in this for the cash, I am in it to fund my own hobby so that I don't have to dip into family funds. I also do it to help people along with their projects as it makes me feel good. Law of averages suggests that that many transactions guarantee a stinker now and then, but I will always stand behind my junk and my rep. Some times it is my fault, and sometimes it isn't. I have been in this hobby for awhile and you can find me anywhere just by looking. If you want something and want to get it from me, email or call me and we'll work something out. Better if you can come and get it, but if not we can work out the details. I like Paypal even though it cost me because I can use my Paypal card for my house account with UPS. If you want to use UPS you will get an email and a tracking number directly from them. If you want USPS Priority which is cheaper that is fine but you will need to sign for it. There have been too many people who have used Paypal fraud to steal from me and my friends as people work the Paypal system to get parts for free.

Thom: Email received, reply sent, call me anytime between 8am and 6pm.

Stu- Since you choose to elaborate on here and not reply to me in an email, I will do the same. One, you never gave me a phone number. Two, I know that PM inboxes can get full, that is why I sent you several (4) emails to the email address that you list on your posts and on Paypal. No response. Third, I DID NOT file a claim with Paypal. I opened a dispute, which to my understanding does not withdraw money from your Paypal account. Fourth, I have never accused you of not sending anything. All I asked for was a tracking number, which you told me the UPS store always emails you. The first time you said you sent the stuff and it got sent to the wrong address, you said you did not get a tracking number so you thought something was wrong. Three weeks ago (almost a month after I paid you) you said you had the parts and would ship them "in the morning." I have not recieved the parts or a tracking number. If you shipped them and I get them, thanks, I do not want my money back. I have paid for items via paypal well over a hundred times and I have never had to open a dispute. So do not accuse me of being "fishy" and trying to worm out of a payment that you "will take the hit on". Seems to me that I have taken the hit as I paid you a month and a half ago and have yet to recieve the items or a tracking number only an explanation that the guy behind the counter at UPS messed up and switched the addresses and it got shipped to a warehouse where it sat until you went to pick it up. Perhaps it got lost in the mail! It happened the first time you sent them. Right?? But I cant know that without a tracking number, which is all I want. In fact, I would think that if you had the tracking number, you could track it yourself and see if I recieved the package yet, which I have not. Recently, my housemate had a package stolen off of the front porch (which is why our UPS guy drops packages off in our gated backporch). That could have happened! BUT once again, I have no proof of that without a tracking number. I opened the paypal dispute on wednesday, which was the day after I sent you a message and email telling you I would do so if I hadnt heard from you with a tracking number. Obviously you got the message but for some reason you have chosen not to respond to me until now when you think I am "hurting your reputation". You know why I opened the paypal dispute? Because a person has 45 days from date of payment to do so if they do not recieve there stuff. I gave you the benefit of the doubt for 42 days. If I get the parts, then I will glady post a reply on every forum from here to Maryland touting how wonderful they were, shipping a little slow. AND YOU were the one that told me to "send you a paypal payment" and you would ship the package "in the morning". I do not delete my messages. Once again, I am not hurting your reputation. A big part of running a business is good communication. I feel that I have gone above and beyond on my part of the communication, and I have not sent you a single "threatening message". I am looking forward to recieving the parts or my money. Thanks.

I spoke to Paypal about this situation in the morning of June 21st the day of this post. I ran through the history and details of this transaction. I explained to them that the parts were shipped but had not yet arrived. The parts had been scheduled in the UPS system to be delivered on Friday the 18th but the delivery had been postponed till Monday June 21st. Apparently you live just outside of one of their areas or have noted special conditions (maybe a flag in the system per the history of stolen deliveries? IDK) Paypal explained to me that it could take 30-60 days to resolve the claim even if it were to be in my favor. I was not interested in letting this hang out there that long. I was able to have UPS successfully intercept the parcel prior to it being loaded on the truck for afternoon delivery. The package was shipped back to me at my expense ($11.20 fee). The package arrived in Hunt Valley Md Thursday of last week. I received a notice of delivery at my shop on Friday and again on Monday. I signed the slip waiving the sig and the package was left at my door today. I now have the package in hand. From me towards you and back the cost for me has been $29.70.

This afternoon I contacted Paypal to initiate a refund. It took some time to do this. Paypal concluded that it was best for them to cancel the claim you have filed, and helped me figure out howe to refund the payment. While I have a positive balance in the account, all of the needed money was not available due to an uncleared e-check from another person. I instructed Paypal to issue a partial refund, and when the referenced e-check clears, I will be sending a personal Paypal payment for the balance. I will not be adding any money to the account but will rather wait for what is in there to clear. In addition to the shipping fees above, the partial refund through Paypal cost $3.20, for a total of $32.90 lost to this cancelled transaction.

I am not at all happy about any of it but at least you will get your money back and hopefully you will be able to move on with your project. I am sorry we were not able to conclude everything to our mutual satisfaction.

When you receive the remainder of your refund I would appreciate that you post that you have received all of your money.

Thanks,Rob

I have straight front and rear painted bumpers for an 800. I recomment you source the glass locally. It is a flat pane and shouldn't cost that much to have it cut. I do have rear and side glass for the traveltop but again it might behoove you to get that local. I do not currently have any lock mechanisms that work or rear seats.

Thank you Stu for the update. I will have to call and check with UPS and figure out what the so called flag on my address is. I live right smack dab in the middle of the city, commercially zoned, and recieve packages from UPS, fed-ex, and USPS weekly. Thank you for acknowledging that I had in fact not recieved the package and was not trying to steal from you via paypal as hinted at in your earlier post. I would definately recommend providing a tracking number to folks that buy something from you. Im still a little sore that I never recieved that.

I will gladly post on here when I recieve the rest of my refund. To date I have recieved $34.08. The parts would have been better but whatever. And the project will go on. Im kind of addicted.

The UPS store is the entity that suggested that there could be some special note on your address. I don't know anything about that and have never heard of it before. As I had indicated those people do not seem to be on the ball at all. I had hoped the problem was just the counter guy but the owner was no help either as he processed the second shipment and should have sent you an email with all of the tracking information electronicall but apparently didn't.. While I do keep records my shop is about 15 miles from my computer and the electronic notification system has always worked well in the past.

Having been burned three times via Paypal I unfortunately have to assume the worst. I have to accept that you read into my words as an accusation which I do not believe I did but oh well. Perhaps we both jumped to conclusions.

hey stu-

you wouldn't happen to have the drivers side riser too?

i think the seats in a 800a are the same as in a 800? does the passenger seat in a 800a mount the same? as long as the seat frames are in good shape that's all i'am really after, it doesn't bother me if there torn or missing some foam. I don't have anything right now, lol.

I do not have any driver's side seat boxes. It is 100% different from the passenger seat riser which is a curved bar rather than a box. Usually, on a Scout 80/800 that is far enough gone to be a parts rig, the driver's seat box is rotted away at the bottom. Even a rough one should be good enough to get the idea of what you need and act as a template at the top that would allow you fabricate a flange that would fit an 80/800 seat. There are some differences between the earliest Scout 80s and later 80/800/800A/Bs, but there is no difference between 800s and A/Bs in terms of seat mounting. I have seen seat boxes on the passenger side of some bench seat models so I do know they exist.

The seats on the Scout I am parting out are decent but would need to be re-covered. I might have missed your location....where would you need seats shipped, or would you be picking them up? The riser would fit into a flat rate box I think.

hahaha, ok, i had to read that a few times to get it to straight in my head. A location would probly help. My zip is 73501. I'd would need them shipped. But just to double check, you don't have the drivers seat riser? or you do have one, but it's only good enough for a template? and you do have the passenger seat bar? If ya got some pics, it would probly clear it up in my head. I've seen the drivers side riser box from some pic's on the internet, didn't look to complicated to fab up, but would be way easier with a old one to use as a pattern.

I have several of the passenger bars. I am using a rotted out box as a template for an adapter plate. I will take pics of the rotten one and the good one in my 68 800. If you were to make one, you could make two and adapt it to fit the passenger side so you could use two driver's seats with sliders. The passenger seat undercarriage is totally different from the driver's seat and is not adjustable. I could send two sets of sliders in the same box as the passenger riser if you wanted some flexibility with your options. As it would be in a flat rate box it would not impact the cost of shipping. Up to you.

yeah, i see what ya mean. It all sounds good to me. i didn't realize that the drivers side box was welded in. I looks like someone had just unbolted everything out of there, so i was assuming that it all bolted in. If ya got some pics that would be great.

I may have one but it might need straightening. Seems they all progressively warp at the tips over time as the sliding tracks crack and split and the window goes metal to metal.

I will try to look at it this weekend. Very rough week at work and it is not nearly over yet.

I may still have one fan shroud. I have to check. I am unsure about the fitment on the 152 as the 196 radiator is larger but I think the fan is the same size. I think the 196 shroud should work on the 152 but not vice versa? I just need to remove the fan on a 152 setup I have in an 800 at the shop and compare the bolt pattern. I think I have a 152 fan shroud over at the farm on a Scout 80, will check on that also.

I may have a line on another T18. I haven't been able to get out or do much lately as I broke my foot.
