Anyone ever heard of it being done and what it might take to do it?

The tach output is on the alternator on a diesel. Might also be the case with the SD33(T). Never checked.

Ok, that helps. The only hiccup I might run into is that when I bought my scout, it was running a standard Delco-Remy alternator with no vacuum pump... so I went to the junkyard and got one off an old Chevy Luv and had it rebuilt. It's got 3 output terminals, and the whole truck runs off just 1 of them. Maybe the tach would hook up to one of the other outputs? I'm having one of my mechanic buddies look it up for me, but thought maybe someone here would know right off hand. Looks like at least I'll be able to help anyone else out once I figure it out.
