Are you getting a good spark at the plugs? Did you remove the distributor from the engine to install the new piece? Maybe didn't get it back in the same location. Did you remove the sparkplug wires from the dist cap? Maybe didn't get the wires in the same socket. Check the fireing order of the engine and set the timeing from the #8 sparkplug = rear on passenger side.
Has the engine started before you worked on the ignition?

I'd try to fire it off from a 5 gallon can instead of a tank of unknown liquid. The lines could be plugged, and you may have a plugged fuel filter. Get a full fuel can and run a hose from the fuel pump into the can. Replace your filter, then start turning it over. May have some gumming of the carb too if it sat while full, but you can deal with that later.
I'd recommend draining the tank and blowing the lines clear with an air compressor to ensure all of the ol' fuel is removed.
Good luck & welcome to the fun of an IH.

Hi,
One thing at a time. Establish spark. Check that you have spark at the plugs. If you don't then work your way back until you get spark. Then go to the gas, using the good suggestions from the replies to your thread.
Good Luck,

If you find out that you have a good spark and fuel to the engine, then check for good compression in all 8 cylinders. If you have a high mileage engine, the camshaft bearings can come apart. When they do, not only do you lose oil pressure, but the timing gears can break some teeth, altering your valve timing. If this is the case and the engine is out of time, a compression test would reveal this. Good luck!
